Finally got off my lazy arse and got the chipped XBox back onto the network.

Installed and configured the latest CVS binary of XBox Media Center, which is officially lovely. It picks up my rendevous playlists from iTunes, happily plays all media from the Samba shares from the eMac and even checks the weather...

It's a lot nicer than the old version I had previously. Happy as a pig in shit, now. :D

I've been running two blogs for ages. That's all well and good, but it dawns on me that there's fuck all on the web that I can't code for myself. Cue Klog. My personal blog project.

Yup, like every other cunt, I'm going to roll my own. I know what I want, how the APIs work, it's all a piece of piss. In between some other work, I'm going to code this fucker up for myself, to do what I want and support the apps that I use. Yes, it'll have levels of visibility, yes, it'll have proper RSS and ATOM. It's easy shit...

The world needs exactly one more piece of shit blog. :)

I may even start it tomorrow.

Further to my bottling the purchase of the 1 tera drive, I ended up plumping for the Macally PHR-100AC, 3.5" Firewire enclosure.

I'm quite impressed, nice build quality, and with the repurposed Tivo HD in, it's actually very very quiet indeedy.

I'll be getting another one of those next month.

Anyway, here's 620gig and my eMac, cos I'm that sad :D

I've been trying to work out at what point this should become 'official', cos it's been way too easy so far. But, I've given up smoking. There, said it, everyone can take the piss when I 'fail'.

It's been 4.5 days so far.

Friday was a bit twitchy and I ducked out of the pub to ease into it (not to mention my hangover was so fucking big I couldn't handle it), but since then it's been downhill. I had to clean my room to get rid of the smell, wash a load of clothes and some other basic chores, but I've been drunk, down the pub, all the usual smoking places and I'm not even bothered. In fact, it's actually easier when I'm tipsy... I've also got to the point where I can smell it on other people and it's a little bit rank. :)

Noticing the stupid habits though; I always look for my fags when I leave for lunch, I've spent the last four days convinced I've left something at home cos my pockets feel empty, I nearly bought a packet at the petrol station today (cos I always buy fags with petrol) and when I finished my food shopping I ended up at the tobacco counter (cos I always buy fags when I go food shopping)...

The day is definitely longer when it's not punctuated by ciggies, but otherwise I think I'm over the worst of it. I normally smoke loads when I'm coding, but that's not been an issue, I like the fact I don't need to pause games for a quick puff and my vinyl's not getting covered in quite so much dust.

I thought the pub would be the big test, but that's easy, so the next one is class A's. That'll be very interesting. All in all, it's been surprisingly easy so far. Can't say I feel any different for it, though. I'm still coughing up the dregs of 15 years smoking, for instance, and I'm not too excited about having a sense of smell again. I'm also a bit worried that half the food I eat I won't like when I'm able to taste it. On the upside, I've got 50squid a month extra cash, which covers gym membership at Gunwarf. What a coincidence... :)

Oh, and for the record, I've given up ciggies. I'm still going to smoke cigars when I'm drinking whiskey. Cos that's just right :)
